President Eileen Wilson-Oyelaran Guild Summit, January 12, 2008 Guilds The Business Guild will foster connections between the many elements of life at K that strive to understand commerce and the world of professional workers, and between students, alumni, faculty and staff, and community partners who are interested in understanding and improving business practices and activities. These connections will lead to opportunities for professional networking, collaborative action, leadership development, and life-long ties to Kalamazoo College. The Health Guild will foster connections between the many elements of life at K that relate to health (including but not limited to public health, health care, veterinary medicine, physical fitness and wellness issues), and between students, alumni, faculty and staff, and community partners who are interested in improving human and animal health. These connections will lead to opportunities for professional networking, collaborative action, leadership development, and life-long ties to Kalamazoo College. The Justice and Peace Guild will foster connections between the many elements of life at K that strive to promote just and non-violent practices (on campus, in the community, and around the globe), and between students, alumni, faculty and staff, and community partners who are interested in encouraging peace and justice. These connections will lead to opportunities for professional networking, collaborative action, leadership development, and life-long ties to Kalamazoo College. The Sustainability Guild will foster connections between the many elements of life at K that strive to encourage sustainable practices (on campus, in the community, and around the globe), and between students, alumni, faculty and staff, and community partners who are interested in promoting the importance of sustainability. Kalamazoo College Guilds
The Kalamazoo College Guilds will bring together the college community, especially alumni and current students, around interdisciplinary issues that affect today's world. These voluntary membership organizations will integrate experiences and classroom learning and provide professional development and networking opportunities in order to bridge students' liberal arts education with the world they will encounter upon graduation. Guilds will connect students to mentors and professional opportunities, foster leadership among students, and allow participants to realize their potential to positively impact the world through their work.
